The Dane County Sheriff's Department said a two-vehicle crash Friday morning seriously injured one person and temporarily closed a section of Highway 19.

Authorities said the crash occurred on Highway 19 at County Highway TT in the Town of Medina at about 6:25 a.m. Friday and caused a section of Highway 19 east of Sun Prairie to be closed until about 8 a.m.

The sheriff's department said Matthew D. Jennings, 39, of Marshall, was driving his Dodge Ram pickup westbound on Highway 19 when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with an eastbound Chevy Colorado pickup driven by Adam J. Vorwald, 29, of Sun Prairie.

Jennings, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, treated for minor injuries and released.

Authorities said Vorwald was not wearing a seat belt and was transported by Med-Flight to University Hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The Dane County Sheriff's Department said the cause of the crash remains under investigation and that icy road conditions might have been a contributing factor.
