Authorities Warn Of Burglaries Throughout Dane County
Overnight Burglaries Reported In Goodland County Park Neighborhood

MADISON, Wis. -- The Dane County Sheriff's Office is urging residents to watch out for suspicious activity as it investigates several recent reports of overnight burglaries.Most recently, Dane County deputies said they have responded to several reports of overnight burglaries in the Goodland County Park neighborhood, in the townships of Dunn and Blooming Grove.Authorities said the burglars entered homes and stole purses and easily accessible items. Elise Schaffer, Dane County Sheriff's Office public information officer, said the burglaries occurred between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.Schaffer said that detectives are continuing to investigate several daytime burglaries in the Burke, Sun Prairie, Medina, and York townships. She said there was a residential daytime burglary in the town of Medina on Jan. 23 in which a home was entered by force and several thousand dollars of jewelry and electronics were stolen.The Dane County Sheriff's Office is reminding residents to be aware of the activity in their neighborhood and to report any suspicious activity to authorities immediately. Authorities said people should secure businesses, homes, garages and vehicles at all times.Anyone with information about the burglaries or who witnesses any suspicious activity is encouraged to call the Dane County tip line at 608-284-6900.
