Early-Morning Crash Injures 2 In Town Of Verona

Both Drivers Taken To Area Hospitals

A two-car crash injured two drivers early Saturday morning on County Highway M in the Town of Verona.

Dane County Sheriff's Deputies, Fitchrona EMS and Verona Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash just before 3 a.m.

Authorities believe Evie J. K. Allen, 20, of Oregon, was traveling eastbound on CTH M in her 1998 Mercury Mystic. Her vehicle crossed over the centerline of the road and into the path of an oncoming 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse traveling westbound on CTH M, which was driven by Julie J. Booth, 30, of Verona.

Officials said Allen was pinned in her vehicle and had to be extricated by the Verona Fire Department.

Allen, who sustained serious, life-threatening injuries, was transported to an area hospital for treatement.

According to a sheriff's office news release, Allen is tentatively charged with causing injury by operating while intoxicated.

Booth, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries, and was also transported to an area hospital for treatment. She is tentatively charged with OWI - 2nd offense.

The incident continues to be investigated.
