MILWAUKEE -- A letter sent to parents of some 300 students in the University of Wisconsin-Madison marching band gives more details about hazing accusations that led to the band's suspension last Friday.
TALKBACK: What Do You Think? The letter from Dean of Students Lori Berquam tells parents that "there's a concern that students may have been placed in unsafe situations or experienced humiliation in a hazing-like atmosphere."Four specific accusations in the letter included: sexual fondling of students against their will; being forced or pressured to drink alcohol; being forced or pressured to have their hair cut in an unusual way; and being forced or pressured "to eat something disgusting."The band did not play at last Saturday's home football game with Ohio State.UW-Madison officials expect to have an update on the band's status before this Saturday's game with undefeated Penn State.
