No One Was Hurt In Shooting

Six people were arrested in connection with a shooting in the Town of Albion on Tuesday night.

Dane County investigators said that they believe the incident was a drug deal gone bad, but no one was hurt in the gunfire.

Dane County sheriff's deputies were alerted to the incident at about 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday at the Highwood Club House in the 100 block of Forrest Avenue. Six shots were apparently fired at two men inside an SUV -- with two hitting the vehicle. Neither man was injured, authorities said.

The men contacted 911 and gave a description of a white van involved in the shooting and the description of six people inside the van.

Dane County authorities, with the help of the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Edgerton police, and the Rock County sheriff's deputies, later located and stopped the van on Interstate 90 just outside of Janesville and the van's occupants were taken into custody. A 17-year-old Newville woman and four men -- Patrick Butler, 20, of Janesville, Christopher J. Crownover, 20, of Janesville, Justin D. Paysen, 19, of Evansville and Cortez M. Tucker, 18, of Janesville -- were taken into police custody. Authorities said that a .22-caliber handgun was found during the traffic stop.

A sixth person -- a 17-year-old from Edgerton -- was arrested on Wednesday morning and detectives believe she planned the incident. Authorities said that they think the group planned to rob the victims of drug money, but the money wasn't exchanged.

Authorities said that the six people are all facing a charge of attempted armed robbery, party to a crime. Tucker is believed to be the shooter and he is facing an additional charge of carrying a concealed weapon and reckless endangering safety, according to Dane County Sheriff's Department.
