Hazmat Crews Called To Building

Updated: 6:56 pm CDT August 18, 2008

Two people were rushed to the hospital after suffering non-life-threatening injuries on Monday afternoon during an apparent chemical spill at a Madison business.

Madison Fire Department hazmat crews were called to the building in the 600 block of Science Drive after 4 p.m.

The facility was evacuated and the incident was contained, according to fire officials.

Fire officials said that the spill consisted of less than two liters of methyl bromoacetate, which was contained within a room.

Workers were then allowed back in the building and the hazmat crews have left, WISC-TV reported.

The building belongs to SAFC, a company that focuses on a variety of manufacturing industries, including a process that brings new drugs and new electronic products to market.
