Edgerton Police Investigate Apparent Murder-Suicide
Officers Were Dispatched To Residence On Monday Morning

EDGERTON, Wis. -- Edgerton police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after the bodies of a married couple were found inside a house on Monday morning.
VIDEO: Watch The ReportOfficers said that they went to the house in the 100 block of Mildred Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. Monday to check on the welfare of a person there and discovered the man and woman dead.Edgerton Police Chief Thomas Klubertanz said officers found the two bodies in a bedroom with gunshot wounds. Police recovered a gun at the scene, WISC-TV reported.Klubertanz said that the deaths appear to be a murder-suicide. Police said that no one else is believed to be involved.The victims were identified on Monday afternoon as Jennifer and Shaun Vordermann, both of whom were in their early 20s, according to authorities. A family member had called police after the couple didn't show up to their jobs.Area residents said that the incident is proving to be difficult to understand."I'm shocked. I'm just shocked," said neighbor Barbara Dionne. "I've seen them wash their cars and having fun. They seemed like they got along really, really well.""If you all have been out there, you'll see it's kind of a shock of something like this happening in that area," Klubertanz said.There were no past domestic disturbance calls made from the house, but Klubertanz said officers were at the house Saturday for some sort of medical call.Police said that Jennifer Vordermann called for help after Shaun Vordermann was allegedly threatening suicide. They said that police took Shaun Vordermann to Rock County Health Care Center.Unidentified sources said that they saw Shaun Vordermann at home on Sunday, WISC-TV reported.A supervisor at the health care center said that the protocol for how someone is released from the facility comes down to a crisis intervention worker, who determines if the person should be taken to detox, a psychiatric hospital or should be released with the authorization of a supervisor.Investigators said that they still don't know what time the murder-suicide happened or who the shooter was. Authorities said that autopsies are planned for Tuesday.Klubertanz said that the couple had no children.Police called the Rock County Humane Society to pick up two bulldogs in the home's back yard, according to the Janesville Gazette.Stay tuned to WISC-TV and Channel 3000 for continuing coverage.
