Grill May Have Caused Verona Home Fire
Fire Occurs Friday Evening

VERONA, Wis. -- A half-dozen local fire departments were called in to help fight a fire at a Verona home in the 400 block of Dunhill Drive on Friday evening.
VIDEO: Watch The ReportThe fire started on the back patio of the home at about 6:30 p.m.Quick response from several local departments helped contain the fire to the garage and the attic above the garage. It is believed the fire was triggered by a backyard grill, WISC-TV reported."The homeowner was home; he was trying to do some grilling in the back yard," said Verona Fire Department Capt. Alex Miller. "He went out and lit the grill and came back inside, said he heard a loud bang, went back outside, and back of the house was on fire."The fire wasn't the only caused by a propane grill in Dane County on Friday.Local fire departments responded to a fire near Middleton.Dane County officials said in that case, the grill was sitting on a wooden deck in the town of Springfield. Officials said no one was injured in the small fire on Springton Drive.
