Falk announced Thursday that the program will get a boost of $55,000.

The program allows people with special needs to catalog their skills and offer help to others. In exchange for their services, they earn Timebank hours. People can use the Timebank hours to get assistance from others with skills they need.

She said it also promotes a sense of community.

"It's a real feeling that we're all in this together, and it's not a hand out, but a handshake, where everybody gives something and everybody gets something," Falk said.

Falk said the program costs taxpayers very little while helping people with special needs.
