MADISON, Wis. -- The Dane County Sheriff's Department said it is looking for a Dane County Jail inmate who has been declared absent without leave.Darrius Howard, 18, was released for an appointment with his probation officer Wednesday afternoon, but authorities said he never returned to Dane County Ferris Center Jail after the meeting.Howard is described as a black man who is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. Authorities said Howard, who has ties to the Northport area, also has a tattoo of a cross on his right arm and another on his right shoulder.At the time Howard went AWOL, he was serving a six-month sentence, with work release, for aggravated battery.Inmate David Hanaway was also declared AWOL Thursday morning after not returning from an appointment at the Department of Motor Vehicles but he turned himself in at about 9 p.m.Anyone with information on Howard's whereabouts is asked to call 911.
