MADISON, Wis. -- Madison earned the No. 89 spot in this year's Money Magazine's rankings of best cities to live in.

In 1996 and 1998, Madison was the top-ranked city to live in, but it dropped to No. 89 this year.

Madison is the only Wisconsin city on the list, but it doesn't score very well in areas on median income, property taxes and job growth compared to other top cities, WISC-TV reported.

This year's No. 1 city to live in is Plymouth, Minn., a Minneapolis suburb of 70,000.

Middleton was tops last year in the Money Magazine poll but that list was reserved for cities under 50,000.
