New Kid-Inspired Water Park Opens In Middleton

Children Help Design Splash Park

Updated: 6:17 pm CDT July 4, 2008

There's a new place to cool off this summer, and it's quickly becoming a favorite place for children .

The Lakeview Splash Park just opened at Middleton's Lakeview Park and funding for the park came from donations from the Madison Community Foundation and the American Girl Fund for Children. The city of Middleton helped cover additional funding, WISC-TV reported.

Officials said the children using the facility helped with the park's design.

"The designers and the city actually went to work with children in schools and had them help design it," said Tom Linfield, the vice president of the Madison Community Foundation. "So we have professional designers and then we have kids input."

"So, the different whirly gigs that are out there, and the leaves and the colored cement that are on the floor, those are all coming out of the kids doing their own drawings," said Linfield.

City leaders hope Splash Park can bring a diversity of families together during these hot summer months, WISC-TV reported.
