The dogs are from the Cedar Rapids area and additional pets could be sent in the coming weeks.

The Humane Society in Cedar Rapids was completely devastated and rendered inoperable. Homeless dogs in that area have been cared for in crates and kennels in makeshift tent shelters, WISC-TV reported.

"There in good condition and happy dogs," said Gayle Viney of the Dane County Humane Society. "They still need to be evaluated before they are available to be adopted for here in the Dane County Area."

The Dane County Humane Society will also serve as a drop-off and pick-up location for other shelters around state that can help.
