More than two dozen sports make up the Badger State Summer Games. The games boast everything from archery to wrestling, WISC-TV reported.

On Sunday, most soccer fans said they embrace the change of locations. They said the move might be what the games need to move forward.

"A lot of good people having a good time," Donald Smith said of the games. "Everyone's out here to support the kids."

Smith is the games' youth soccer commissioner. He said he got involved six years ago as an adult athlete.

"You're going to potentially open it up to some additional teams that may not have made the trip all the way to Madison," said Smith. "Where in Appleton they'll look at that and say, 'Hey, we can go down to Appleton.'"

The Badger State Summer Games typically draw around 10,000 people annually.
