After several dry days, Lake Delton is starting to look much different than it did 10 days ago when houses were falling into the surging floodwaters.

Acres of sand baked in the sun as people are venturing out to walk the lakebed to see what they can find.

All of this was visible in a stunning aerial look that local pilot Bill Johnsen gave WISC-TV on Thursday.

"(Lake Delton) is a big fat body of water, and it shines and ripples when the wind blows," said Johnsen. "It's like a big light bulb, and now it’s gone. Its like the light went out."

Johnsen said that the Lake Delton community is abuzz about the future of the area. People are wondering what the will summer bring and how local business will survive now that the lake is drained.

Those concerns are being felt at such places as Ravina Bay, a restaurant where people now take in "The Tommy Bartlett Show" without water.

“We're not going to let this get the best of us. We are going to do our best to survive. (We have) concerns yes, but I have very positive hopes,” said Jenny Mattison, manager of Ravina Bay

"There's no rhyme or reason for how the business is working right now," she said. "This tentatively is supposed to be a slow week for us. We're not really supposed to get going until next weekend. We've had fluctuation in business pretty drastically, for the positive."

Stay tuned to WISC-TV and Channel 3000 for continuing coverage.
