Regents Committee Meets Again To Pick UW-Madison Chancellor

Committee Met Last Week

Updated: 10:03 am CDT May 27, 2008

A special Board of Regents committee is meeting for a second time to try to recommend the next University of Wisconsin-Madison chancellor.

The committee's five members began reviewing the four finalists last week, but chairman David Walsh said that they didn't reach a consensus.

He said that committee members decided they needed to do more research before they could reach an agreement, which could come as early as Tuesday.

The finalists are UW-Madison Letters and Sciences Dean Gary Sandefur; Michigan economist Rebecca Blank; University of Minnesota vice president for research Timothy Mulcahy; and Cornell University Provost Biddy Martin.

The four are being considered as replacements for John Wiley, who is stepping down.
