STOUGHTON, Wis. -- Saturday was a day made for both sailors and animal lovers. The Lake Kegonsa Sailing Club set sail Saturday on its sixth annual Syttende Mai Sailboat Regatta. Sailors of all ability levels enjoyed the water and the wind as they raced to be declared the fastest on the lake, WISC-TV reported. The regatta is part of Stoughton's three-day weekend of celebrating Norway's independence from Denmark on May 17, 1814.Inland, it was a glamorous evening Saturday for friends of the four-legged kind, as the sixth annual Bark and Wine event at the Dane County Humane Society showcased a variety of animals at the shelter.Food, wine, and a silent auction all helped to benefit the shelter and the animals they house, and WISC-TV's Mark Koehn and Susan Siman were on hand to accept an award commemorating the station's 25 years of showcasing adoptable animals in the "Pet of the Week" segment.
