Memorial Services Set For Med Flight Crash Victims

Public Service Held At Monona Terrace

Updated: 8:34 am CDT May 16, 2008

A memorial service for two of the crew members killed in the University of Wisconsin Hospital Med Flight helicopter crash last weekend was held on Thursday night at Monona Terrace in downtown Madison.

Motorists were warned to expect delays around Monona Terrace as a large contingent of emergency vehicles are expected for the service.

The Monona Terrace service was open to the public and began at 7 p.m.

The service remembered emergency room physician Dr. Darren Bean and pilot Steve Lipperer, who were killed after they airlifted a patient to a La Crosse hospital and crashed on their way back to Madison on Saturday night.

A separate memorial service will be held for the third crash victim, nurse Mark Coyne. That service is scheduled at Crossroads Church on South Dutch Mill Road in Madison for Monday at 5 p.m.

Hospicecare Event Moves To Middleton Hotel

Because of the memorial service for the Med Flight crash victims, Hospicecare Inc. moved its 30th anniversary event from Monona Terrace to the Marriott Madison West in Middleton.

The Hospicecare event was to begin at the originally scheduled time of 6 p.m. Thursday.
