VIDEO: Watch The ReportOfficers were called to the Dane County Mental Health Center in the 600 block of West Washington Avenue at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.Investigators at the scene outside the Dane County Mental Health Center collected shell casings and bullet fragments until after 9 p.m. Wednesday."This has absolutely nothing to do with Dane County Mental Health. This was a shooting that occurred outside of the building and it just so happened to occur on the 600 block of West Washington," said Mike Hanson, of the Madison Police Department.Police said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting doesn't appear to be a random act of violenceand the victim might have known the people involved in the shooting, police said.Officers recovered what they believe to be the suspect vehicle on the city's south side, WISC-TV reported."There's absolutely nothing in this investigation thus far to have any reason to believe the community is at risk. The public should not be concerned about this, per se," said downtown Alder Mike Verveer. "And this really could've happened anywhere in the community. It is not a downtown crime."Stay tuned to WISC-TV and Channel 3000 for continuing coverage.
