VERONA, Wis. -- Verona police suspect that a little dog was at the helm of a truck that crashed into a fence Wednesday.
A flatbed truck out of Platteville was parked at the top of a hill on Verona Avenue, when it rolled down and stopped after it hit the fence.
Police believe the dog, left in the cab alone, then released the emergency brake.
The truck also hit two parked cars, clipped an oncoming car and ripped through a tree.
"We're just lucky somebody didn't get hit head on -- because the way it ripped that tree out of the ground, you could tell it was going at pretty good speed by the time it got down here by the fence," Officer Ron Encoe said.
Police didn't issued any tickets at the scene, but they were still investigating the accident.
There won't be any moving violations because there wasn't a driver at the wheel -- a legal driver, anyway.
