MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin's half-billion-dollar budget shortfall is still looming as legislative leaders wrangle behind closed doors trying to reach a compromise.Different budget repair bills have been passed in the Assembly and Senate. In cases like this, both pieces of legislation normally would go to a bipartisan conference committee, WISC-TV reported. However, legislative leaders instead are trying to work things out in private and then get the deal through the Legislature and to the governor for signing.
