Trisha Hermanson
Trisha comes to News 3 from Sioux Falls, S.D., where she worked as a sports/news reporter, also a fill-in sports anchor at KDLT-TV.Before Trisha started her on-air career in Sioux Falls, she worked in Seattle as a sports intern at KIRO 7, UPN 11 and Q-13 FOX. In that time, she covered stories on the Seattle Seahawks, Mariners, Sonics and the University of Washington Huskies."I was born and raised just south of Seattle, and went to college at Seattle Pacific University, so covering all the teams I grew up watching was an awesome experience," she said.Trisha earned her bachelor's degree in communication from Seattle Pacific University from 2001 to 2005 while playing for the women's basketball team in her four years as a Falcon. She helped lead her team to three regional tournaments and a national championship appearance her senior year."I love sports they have been a part of my life since I started walking," she said. "I figured since I'm only 5 foot 6 inches and have arthritis in my knee, the WNBA wouldn't be the best career path for me. So, I've decided to continue my athletic career by telling other athletes stories, something I truly have a passion for."Trisha is still very active. She loves to hit the slopes whenever possible, she started snow skiing when she was 3 years old and has been snowboarding since she was 13. Raised on a lake, she loves all water sports, especially wakeboarding. Playing pick-up ball at the gym, sand volleyball in the summer and a little tennis on the side, are some of her favorite ways to work out."I will say that growing up with an older brother who's 6'5'' and very athletic has instilled a very competitive nature in me," she said. "My brother and I did everything together. Growing up and everything we did was always a competition. He still won't admit that I beat him in a game of one-on-one in our backyard. OK, I might have cheated once, but that's what he gets for dunking on me!""I feel that everything in life happens for a reason, and although I am thousands of miles away from my family and friends, I am here in Madison for a reason. And for now, I love it here," she said.To pitch your story ideas to Trisha, e-mail her at thermanson@wisctv.com.
