Josh Williamson

Josh Williamson joined the News 3 sports team as the weekend Sports Anchor just two days before the Green Bay Packers faced the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day in 2007.

He is excited to be working for the station he grew up watching and enjoys being a part of the WISC-TV 3 family.

"From the day I started I could not imagine being treated any better. It is truly a fun atmosphere," Williamson said.

Josh was born in Madison and returns to his hometown after a year and a half in the Northwoods, where he started out as a news reporter for WJFW-TV in Rhinelander. Six months later, he was fortunate enough to move into the sports department.

"I was in the right spot at the right time and I'm glad they took a chance on me," he said.

He leaves a lot of friends in the Northwoods, but his start in Rhinelander gave him the experience that he needed and it brought him back to the city that he loves. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1995, then attended Madison Area Technical College (MATC) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in English in the summer of 2000.

His radio stints include ESPN 1070/1310 WIBA and ESPN 1000 in Chicago.

Josh became engaged this past year two days after baseball's Opening Day and, believe it or not, he had Milwaukee Brewer pitcher Jeff Suppan "pitch" in on his proposal. No joke. He met his fiancé, Megan, at Babe's Bar and Grill here in Madison two days after the University of Wisconsin Badgers lost to Kentucky in the Sweet 16. So he'll never forget the day they met.

When he's not behind the desk, you can find him on the links looking for his golf ball in the woods or fishing it out of the water. You can also find him on the softball diamond and anywhere a great movie is playing.

"Sports is my life, what can I say? I enjoy my job! I am very fortunate to be doing what I love," he said.

"Go Badgers, Packers, Brewers, Bucks ... Let's see, am I forgetting anyone ... oh yeah, Go Cubs!" he said.

Josh is always looking for the diamond-in-the-rough sports stories. If you have any ideas, please e mail him at jwilliamson@wisctv.com.
