Authorities Raid Apparent Meth Lab In Sun Prairie

Police Say Cleanup Effort Will Last 6 To 20 Hours

A man and a woman were arrested on Tuesday in connection to an apparent methamphetamine manufacturing operation that authorities raided in Sun Prairie, according to police.

Sun Prairie police, along with authorities from other city and state agencies, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1100 block of Pine Street. Some nearby residences were evacuated as a precaution, police said.

Joseph Hack, the Sun Prairie police spokesman, said that precautions were taken to ensure public safety.

"I believe we've evacuated a half block around the actual incident location and we've secured residences further out to keep more people away from the area," he said.

The two people who were arrested on suspicion of the purchase of more than 7.5 grams of pseudoephedrine and the manufacture of methamphetamine. The man and woman were taken to the Dane County Jail.

Investigators said that a tip led them to the home.

Authorities said that the cleanup effort is expected to last between six to 20 hours. Police were wearing Hazmat suits for their protection so they don't touch or inhale anything harmful, WISC-TV reported.
