MADISON, Wis. -- A local Boy Scout is looking for help to earn his Eagle Award and honor a Madison soldier who died in Iraq.Wade Allen said that he wants to turn a park in Madison's Lost Creek Neighborhood into a memorial for U.S. Army Sgt. Mark Maida. Maida died in Baghdad in 2005.Allen is now looking for funds to help him create the memorial park. He needs to raise several thousand dollars by April 15, WISC-TV reported. He said the memorial is a fitting tribute for a soldier who loved spending time with nature."What has been approved is just perfect," said Allen. "Because the bench actually will overlook the Veterans Memorial Plaza with all the flag poles and will also look out into the marsh."Allen said that he hopes to put in a tree and some playground equipment if he can collect enough funding.Donations for the Mark Maida Memorial Fund can be made at any local Anchor Bank.
