Rock County Triple Homicide

Preliminary Hearing Set For Koepp In Triple Slaying

Hearing Set For April 15

UPDATED: 8:41 am CST February 29, 2008

A preliminary hearing date was set Thursday in Rock County Circuit Court for the man accused of killing a Janesville woman and her two teenage children in January 2007.

James Koepp, 49, appeared by video link from the Columbia Correctional Institution where he is serving a sentence on unrelated traffic offenses.

Koepp is charged with three counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the slaying of Danyetta Lentz and her two children.

Koepp's attorneys Thursday filed a motion to dismiss the three charges based on a lack of probable cause in the criminal complaint. If Koepp is bound over for trial, that motion will be heard by the trial judge, WISC-TV reported.

The preliminary hearing, which will determine if there is enough evidence to go to trial, is scheduled for April 15.
