UW-Madison Students Confused Over Where To Vote Tuesday

E-Mail Campaign Underway To Inform Students Of Polling Places

Updated: 2:27 pm CST February 17, 2008

Officials at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are working this weekend to clear up confusion among student voters.

Students are now receiving e-mails with a list of campus polling places after many declared they simply didn't know where to go to vote. Most UW students living in campus dorms can vote in or near their building, officials said.

Eli Judge, a Madison Common Council member and UW-Madison junior, said that many are working to keep students informed.

"Motivating students to vote is one thing. Actually doing it is another. There are many different student groups out there working right now trying to make sure that students can make it to the ballot box," he said.

Gerald Cox, communications chair for UW-Madison College Democrats, added, "We let them know, this is where you live and this is your address, and this is where you vote, and we definitely make sure people are equipped to find their polling places."

Officials are reminding students that they can register to vote up to and including Tuesday, the day of Wisconsin's primary election.
