MADISON, Wis. -- Assembly Republicans are trying to revive a plan that would make health savings accounts tax deductible. It would be similar to the federal tax deduction on the same savings account.Wisconsin is one of the few states that doesn't have the state deduction.Rep. Dean Kaufert, R-Neenah, said that the accounts are an option for those without health insurance and small businesses that can't afford to cover their employees.Gov. Jim Doyle has vetoed similar measures in the past. Doyle said that he's concerned that the health savings accounts discourage employers from offering insurance.
