An anonymous donor has contributed $30,000 to a reward fund for information leading to the arrest of the Joel Marino's killer, WISC-TV reported.

Officers from Madison's Southside Community Policing Team handed out about 70 fliers Thursday afternoon to nearby businesses and residents announcing the reward. Police said they hope the reward money, and their constant presence in the neighborhood, will persuade someone to come forward who might have some vital information about the death of the 31-year-old neighborhood resident.

"The more people that know about it, the more information that we get about suspicious things going on in the neighborhood," Madison Police Sgt. David McClurg said. "We've got some information, just talking to the members of the community, and I think it provides a certain amount of security (for residents) that we're out here."

At Marino's home on Thursday, the police tape was gone. In its place is a makeshift memorial left by family and friends. Many of Marino's friends will be in the neighborhood again on Sunday to distribute fliers.

A knife was found inside Marino's home, in the living room. A search warrant indicates the knife had fresh blood on it, WISC-TV reported. Police on Thursday said they have no new information in the investigation.

Police said that anyone with information on this case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.

Marino's funeral services were set at Lake City Church at 4909 Buckeye Road. The visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
