New Health Insurance Program For Children Starts Friday
Governor Met With Providers On Monday

MADISON, Wis. -- No matter how much a family makes, starting Friday they can sign their children up for health insurance through a new state program.The monthly cost for insurance under the BadgerCare Plus program ranges from $10 to just over $90.There are about 98,000 uninsured children in the state.Even before the program, Wisconsin had one of the lowest rates of uninsured children at about 6 percent.The program is supposed to expand to cover 71,000 childless adults starting in 2009.Gov. Jim Doyle has been trying to spread the word about the expansion. He met with health care providers in Milwaukee to discuss it on Monday.
