CINCINNATI -- Demonstrators at abortion clinics are now taking pictures of the women who go inside, and posting them on the Internet.
The practice has created strong opinions on both sides of the abortion issue.Abortioncams.com is run by the Christian Gallery News Service. The site contains pictures of people entering abortion clinics in several states, including Indiana and Ohio. Some abortion protesters praise the practice."That's a way to bring more awareness about what's going on, and who it is that's going in there," Cincinnati anti-abortion activist Dennis Michael said.Officials with Planned Parenthood, whose facility has not shown up on the site, called the practice reprehensible."We ought to be allowed to go on the public street and go into our doctor's office or into the health care center and be essentially left alone -- not dogged by amateur photographers," Planned Parenthood Director Sue Momeyer said. The Web site is based out of Carrolton, Ga., London reported. Officials said they are planning a cable TV spinoff.Officials with Right to Life may agree with the message, but not the strategy."I think it's going to cause more harm than good," Right to Life President J. Patrick Conroy said. "Not only do I object to it on the basis of the intimidation factor, but I think in this case the backlash will exceed the intended, anticipated benefits."Planned Parenthood officials also pointed out that people visit the clinic for a variety of procedures besides abortions.
