MILWAUKEE -- The America's Black Holocaust Museum received a deeply disturbing and racially charged note Tuesday morning, and it talks about missing 7-year-old Alexis Patterson.
Detectives dusted the doors Tuesday, hoping to find any clues about who glued the offensive note to the building's front doors. The letter talks about the disappearance of Alexis Patterson."We, the museum and its staff, are very saddened and disturbed by the discovery of this note and find it unfortunate that someone would expound on the disappearance of this young girl with such racist statements and disrespect," said Jessie Leonard of America's Black Holocaust Museum."Stop handing us flyers as if we care. Don't you think we would hand out flyers too if we cared?" the letter says. (The letter contains more information, but is too offensive to reprint.)Investigators won't say whether the letter is directly related to the disappearance of Alexis."We're investigating the letter for what it is -- a letter and that's it -- any connections we make will be done through investigation so I'm not gonna say its connected right now at all," Milwaukee Police Capt. Brian O'Keefe said.
As police investigate, the museum continues running strong, giving tours and educating young minds."America's Black Holocaust Museum will continue day-to-day operations and focus on our mission to educate the general public about the injustices suffered by African American people," Leonard said.Police are not commenting on who may have written the letter nor will they say whether that person is a suspect in the Alexis Patterson case.Alexis vanished May 3 on her way to Hi-Mount Boulevard School, less than a block away from her home.Alexis' Description:
