Families Can Sign Up For Expanded BadgerCare Next Year
Report: 98,000 Children Without Health Insurances

MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin families who previously weren't eligible for health insurance offered through the state will be able to sign up under a new program starting on Feb. 1.Gov. Jim Doyle led the push to expand the BadgerCare program to cover all children in the state regardless of their family's income. The state Legislature approved it as part of the new state budget.Premium costs will be based on a family's income. The monthly premiums gradually rise from nothing to just over $68 per month for those earning more than $30,630.A new state report shows there are 98,000 children in Wisconsin without health insurance.
