For State Street business owners, Halloween isn't only a big night, but part of a big weekend.

Bars, restaurants, and shops see a spike in business, and it's one of the busiest weekends of the entire year, some owners said.

Although there have been problems in the past, that wasn't the case this year, WISC-TV reported.

"This feels very different than in years past," said State Street Brats manager Kelly Meuer. "There was electricity two and three years ago like something was going to happen. You just had to hang around and wait for it. Now, it was like, 'OK, lets go down and have some fun and we'll just go home.'"

Many business owners hung out around their closed shops during Freakfest.

This is in stark contrast to previous Halloween weekends in the past when some store owners spent the night to guard their establishments, WISC-TV reported.
