After Freakfest's success last year, officials said they are looking forward to the weekend and safety remains their top priority.

"I'm looking forward to another successful year, and if we keep building on this success and we can string together a few years which are as successful or even more successful than last year, I think that will go a long way (toward) changing the long-term tone of this event. And I think we can rebuild it to the point that Madisonians will be proud of it," said Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz.

Extra security cameras have been installed throughout the State Street area, and there will be extra officers on patrol, officials said.

"We will provide services for the entire downtown Madison. We have a plan for policing the entire city, with Halloween being in mind, just like we do every year. I just wanted to reinforce that," said Madison Police Chief Noble Wray.

This year's Freakfest celebration will include three music stages with both live music and DJs throughout the night.

Tickets for the event can be purchased for $5 through Friday, and for $7 on Saturday.
