Ogg Hall Opens Its Doors For Move-In Day

New Dorm To House More Than 600 Students

UPDATED: 11:52 am CDT August 27, 2007

It was move-in weekend for University of Wisconsin-Madison students as the new Ogg Hall opened its doors to 615 students for the first time.

The "New Ogg" is UW's newest residence hall, which replaces the historic Ogg Hall towers, WISC-TV reported.

The new Ogg Hall is equipped with the typical dorm amenities, but also has study rooms on each floor and a learning center, officials said.

"Right in Ogg Hall, we've got a couple classrooms where students actually take classrooms right in the residence halls," said Ryan Bouchard, who runs Ogg Hall. "Sometimes, they come right on down in their bathrobes and we've got a lot of great study space.”

While Sunday was busy, school officials expect 2,500 students to move into residence halls on Wednesday and Thursday.
