Alex Trevino is one of only 30 in the country to ace the college entrance exam with a perfect score of 36. The test quizzes students on English, mathematics, reading and science and a score of 36 is the highest available, WISC-TV reported.

Out of 304,000 students taking the ACT, the average score was 21.1. More than 11,000 Wisconsin students took the test this year.

Trevino said that he found out about his achievement by receiving a letter in the mail.

The junior also participates in various extra-curricular activities. He's part of the jazz combo, wind ensemble and the school's soccer team, WISC-TV reported.

Trevino scored the winning goal in overtime to send the Spartan soccer team to state this year, which it won.

"Both of them were awesome experiences; that's all I can say," he said when asked how winning state compared to acing the ACT. "It's been a great year. A mother couldn't have written a better script."

Trevino said he isn't sure where he will go to college or what he wants to study. He credited good teachers and taking challenging classes in school as his preparation.

His mother said he is also fluent in Spanish, and that he loves reading and math as well as sports and music.
