MADISON, Wis. -- The Sundance Cinema opened its doors at Hilldale Mall on Sunday with a benefit and celebration.Developers said that they hope Sundance Cinemas will eventually become a national movie theatre circuit, WISC-TV reported. The theatre features independent and foreign language films and no advertisement pre-show. After every show, viewers can stop by the café or bar to discuss the movies. The grand-opening benefit raised money for the Chazen Museum of Art."Film is one of the most important visual art forms of the 20th century and certainly moving into the 21st, so to be able to have this aspect of art forms here is absolutely marvelous," said Chazen Museum of Art Director Russel Panczenko."We always felt that Madison was an extremely progressive town, one that would embrace all types of art that Sundance was a logical participant in that expansion of the art market here," said Sundance Film and Marketing President Bert Manzari. The theater will host two more benefits on Monday and Tuesday for the Wisconsin River Alliance and Outreach, a Madison-based LGBT community center, WISC-TV reported.Tickets are required for the events.
