Experimental Whooping Crane Found Dead

Officials Say Crane Killed By Bobcat

One of seven whooping cranes taken on an experimental migratory flight from Wisconsin to Florida has been killed by a bobcat.

The crane was found Monday morning after it strayed outside a protective pen in a Florida wildlife refuge.

The other six birds at the refuge are said to be safe.

The cranes are learning the migration route from Necedah National Wildlife Refuge in central Wisconsin to Florida.
