Man Accused Of Setting Cathedral Fire Ruled Competent For Sentencing
St. Raphael's Was Destroyed By Blaze In 2005

MADISON, Wis. -- The man accused of setting the fire that destroyed St. Raphael's Cathedral in downtown Madison two years ago was ruled competent to receive sentencing on Thursday.Judge Steven Ebert ruled William Connell competent for sentencing. Connell pleaded no contest in July 2006 to the charge of arson.The fire two years ago destroyed the historic Roman Catholic cathedral.Officials said that a pre-sentence investigation has been ordered and a sentencing date hasn't been determined, WISC-TV reported.The Madison diocese hasn't yet decided whether to rebuild the downtown cathedral.
