MADISON, Wis. -- A shut-down water well on Madison's far East Side will be pumping again, but none of the water will come out of home taps.Instead, the water from Well 29 will be used to test a special filter. The Madison Water Utility said it wants to see if such a filter can reduce high levels of Iron and Manganese at the well.Officials said the current levels aren't dangerous but can stain laundry.Another study is also under way to see if drilling a new well is an option.
