Snowmobile Prices Dropping, Sales Cooling

Officials Said Warmer Weather Is Cause

Updated: 4:21 pm CST January 2, 2007

Snowmobilers are chomping at the bit anxious to get out in the powder, but there's been no powder to be found.

Last year, winter toys, like snowmobiles, were in high demand thanks to the winter weather. The warm weather and lack of snow cooled sales during the month of December, but the silver lining is lower prices for serious snowmobilers, WISC-TV reported.

"There are people who will and do go snowmobiling all the way into early April in the Upper Peninsula," said Englehardt Center manager Marty Hickey. "There is a lot of snowmobiling. I think winter just started last week so we're not hardly into the winter season yet."

Hickey said that it would have been nice to have snow in December, but there's still plenty of time to make it a good season, WISC-TV reported.
