Posted: 3:12 pm CST December 14,2006

A third embryonic stem cell company is coming to Wisconsin.

It will be the first one not associated with James Thomson, a University of Wisconsin-Madison scientist who first isolated human stem cells.

The new company will be called the Stemina Biomarker Discovery, WISC-TV reported.

It has been founded by Beth Donley, a former WiCell chief. Donley has partnered with high-profile UW-Madison researcher Gabriela Cezar.

Stemina is expected to have a formal business plan by Jan. 1.
