MADISON, Wis. -- The Salvation Army is looking for a donor to help make the winter feel a little warmer for the area's homeless. The past two years private donations have helped establish a warming center at the facility from November through April. This year, no one has stepped up to donate yet, putting the center in jeopardy. The warming center costs $31,000 to run and includes meals, housing and a social worker."We have mats we put on the floors in the hallways and they can stay there and we can keep them safe, warm, dry and fed until other accommodations become available for them," said Development Director Ruth Ann Schoer.Without donations Schoer said the program would not be able to run.
Anyone interested in donating to the warming shelter can call 250-2248.
