3-Year-Old Fishing For Sponge Bob Winds Up In Vending Machine

Firefighters Responded To Incident

A 3-year-old boy who went fishing for a stuffed Sponge Bob in a vending machine wound up getting up close and personal with a bin full of toys.

Robert Moore had gone shopping in Antigo with his grandmother, Fredricka Bierdemann, and three siblings last weekend.

She capped the trip by giving each of the children a dollar to spend in a store's game room.

That's when Robert went to work on the vending machine, but he couldn't get the Sponge Bob with the plastic crane.

When his grandmother turned away to get another dollar for him, Robert took off his coat and squeezed through an opening until he was inside the cubicle, looking out.

Store employees couldn't find a key to open the bin, so firefighters were called. They finally had to pass Robert a screwdriver and have him open a latch from the inside.

Despite his trouble, Robert wasn't allowed to keep Sponge Bob, WISC-TV reported.
