Wisconsin adds about 24,000 jobs over past year
Latest quarterly jobs figures shows Wisconsin added 24,000 private sector jobs in year
Wisconsin added just over 24,000 private sector jobs in the 12-month period ending in March.
That is according to data released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The figures place Wisconsin 34th nationwide in private sector job creation between March 2012 and March 2013.
The numbers are based on a census of 96 percent of Wisconsin businesses. Gov. Scott Walker says the figures are the most accurate available and the best way to measure how well he is meeting his campaign promise to add 250,000 private sector jobs by 2015.
Through the first two years of Walker's term the state added about 62,000 jobs. The latest figures show the state added 24,305 private sector jobs between March 2012 and March 2013.
