Milwaukee manufacturing co. to close its Kentucky plant
Plastics manufacturer to move jobs to other facilities
Milwaukee-based Johnson Controls said it will transfer positions from its Kentucky plant to its other plants. Nearly 400 workers at the Kentucky facility will be put out of work early next year when the plant closes.
Louisville’s Courier-Journal newspaper reported that a mass layoff notice filed with the Kentucky Office of Employment & Training on Friday said up to 392 workers could be cut in February when the facility in Louisville closes.
The plant produces injection-molded interior components for vehicles.
Company spokeswoman Debra Lacey said the plant employs 440 workers and an unspecified number would be transferred to other plants within the company.
She said the decision to close the plant was based on "excess capacity in our interiors business."
