The state might have some people's money, and it wants them to have it back.

State officials maintain a database of unclaimed items. The current list has more than a million items totaling over $352 million.

Residents can see if their names are in the database by logging on to the Web site.

To draw attention to the database, state Treasurer Dawn Marie Sass will visit the Milwaukee Public Museum on Monday to help people search for lost and forgotten items.

More than 7,000 Milwaukee County residents have more than $5,000 in unclaimed property. One person's total tops $600,000.

Sass said the database gives residents a great opportunity to see if they have extra cash they can use to pay off their holiday bills.
