In Sauk County , for example, those in the business of home repair are working around the clock.

Neil Peterson's electric business is helping timber frame company Glenville Timberwrights build temporary work stations after the rains literally washed out much of its woodworking machinery, WISC-TV reported.

Peterson said business is definitely up, after a relatively slow year but the economic upturn after the storms leaves a bittersweet feeling, WISC-TV reported.

"It's probably fairly universal that when you get involved helping people that are in this situation, the economic stimulus to your own company is kind of secondary," said Peterson, owner of Peterson Electric. "You're really just trying to get people back to some sense of normalcy in their lives."

Others around the Sauk County area say the sheer number of people willing to help each other is morale boosting in itself.

Another contractor in the area said the need for repair is great enough that it's creating more jobs, WISC-TV reported.

DMH Construction in Baraboo said that since the flooding, it has doubled the number of workers from 10 to 20 because of the long list of home repair projects in the coming weeks.

Because of all the help it's received, Glenville Timberwrights it will be able to fulfill all its summer homebuilding contracts, WISC-TV reported.
