A Detroit barber has filed a $1 million lawsuit saying he's been wrongly arrested 17 times.

Keith Lamont Johnson, 47, shares his name and birthday with a convicted felon currently in a Michigan state prison for armed robbery and other crimes.

Johnson said the first time he was a victim of mistaken identity was in Woodhaven, Mich., when his car broke down. Police spotted him and later arrested him.

Several days later, he appeared before a judge and had his fingerprints compared. The judge confirmed he was not the same Keith Lamont Johnson.

Johnson went through the same ordeal in Trenton, Mich. He was pulled over for not wearing his seat belt. Johnson told authorities he had his clearance papers proving he was a different Keith Johnson, but police took him to jail anyway.

Again a judge-ordered fingerprint comparison proved police had the wrong man.

Johnson said to prevent from being arrested and thrown in jail again, he is going to have his Social Security number changed.

Johnson said he never has met his namesake, who, according to the State of Michigan Corrections Department Web site, is not expected to be released before November 2009.
